Anna Marie Askin, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Supervisor at the Center for Holistic Psychotherapy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements and leadership in Psychotherapy.

Ms. Askin has established herself as a leader in the field of psychotherapy, currently serving as a licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, and supervisor at the Center for Holistic Psychotherapy in Warrenton, Virginia, since 2019. In this capacity, she oversees all center operations, supervises five resident therapists and manages a daily caseload of six to eight clients. Ms. Askin’s responsibilities also include ensuring quality care through supervisory review, conducting weekly meetings with resident therapists to discuss cases and provide guidance, and mentoring therapists in various therapeutic modalities.

Leveraging years of success, Ms. Askin’s expertise encompasses family systems therapy, trauma treatment, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for veterans, first responders and abuse survivors. She has been recognized for her commitment to confidentiality and her ability to help individuals transform their self-perceptions, particularly those who have experienced significant loss or trauma. Ms. Askin’s work with parents grieving the loss of a child after pregnancy, individuals overcoming addiction and survivors of childhood abuse stands as a testament to her dedication and impact.

Since 2007, Ms. Askin has also contributed as a parent and wellness facilitator with CompassionPower. Under the mentorship of Dr. Steven Stosny, she is certified to teach his CompassionPower programs, which include Compassionate Parenting, Core Value Eating and Core Value Workshops.

Mr. Askin spent 2014 to 2018 as a resident in marriage and family therapy at The Marianne Clyde Center for Holistic Psychotherapy (now Center for Holistic Psychotherapy). During this period, she completed coursework toward her master’s degree while gaining practical experience under the supervision of experienced professionals. Ms. Askin further honed her clinical skills as a resident in marriage and family therapy from 2016 to 2018.

Before pivoting into psychotherapy, Ms. Askin was a senior corporate trainer at the World Institute for Nurturing Communications (now Infant Massage World Institute for Nurturing Communication d/b/a for International Association of Infant Massage) between 1998 and 2015. In this capacity, she delivered training programs that focused on family wellness.

Ms. Askin’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Liberty University and the completion of 500 hours of professional bodywork, medical and therapeutic massage at Baltimore School of Massage (now Cortiva Institute Massage Therapy & Skincare Schools) in Baltimore, Maryland. Subsequently, she received a master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2015. Ms. Askin’s professional credentials include recognition as an EMDR-trained therapist, as well as licensure as a professional counselor and a marriage and family therapist supervisor.

In her professional community, Ms. Askin is an active member of the American Counseling Association, demonstrating her commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards within the counseling field. Beyond this affiliation, she has shown civic commitment through group support initiatives with Family Shelter Services (formerly Fauquier Family Shelter) since 2015. She previously served as a counselor at the Fauquier Free Clinic from 2015 to 2016, providing accessible mental health services to underserved populations.

A pivotal moment occurred following an injury that led Ms. Askin to discover massage therapy, both as a patient and as a practitioner. This experience expanded into work with infant massage before she pursued formal education in psychology during a challenging period in her personal life. Looking ahead, Ms. Askin is developing plans to expand her practice by opening an additional office in a neighboring county while training new leadership at the Center for Holistic Psychotherapy. She also intends to focus more on workshops and speaking engagements while pursuing advanced certification in EMDR therapy.
