Ms. Figueroa Matias began her professional journey as a scribe trainer with ScribeAmerica from 2009 to 2016. In this role, she worked alongside physicians in emergency departments, documenting patient interactions and entering information into electronic health records using Epic software. This foundational experience provided her with invaluable exposure to diverse medical cases and fostered Ms. Figueroa Matias’s interest in pursuing a more hands-on clinical role.
Possessing a rich educational background, which has played a pivotal role in shaping her career trajectory, Ms. Figueroa Matias earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-clinical allied health in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science in health services administration in 2011 from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She also acquired a Master of Science in physician assistant studies from Howard University in Washington, D.C., graduating in 2015. Ms. Figueroa Matias’s credentials are further supported by multiple state licenses as a physician assistant from the State of Florida Department of Health, the Georgia Composite Medical Board and the Texas Medical Board. She also holds certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and maintains certifications from the American Heart Association, including basic life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.
Ms. Figueroa Matias’s professional affiliations include membership in the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, the Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
