Her current roles include serving as an emergency medical technician for Marquette Kart Club, Sands Speedway Racetrack and Gwinn Ice Races, where she ensures the safety of participants and spectators during high-risk sporting events. Ms. VandeZande’s responsibilities extend to operating weekend activities at go-kart and race car tracks throughout the summer and assisting with ice racing events during the winter.

Earlier, Ms. VandeZande worked for the Forsyth Township Emergency Medical Services, retiring in 2025 after a notable tenure. She also contributed her expertise as an emergency medical technician at Marquette General Hospital (now Duke LifePoint) for over a decade, where she provided essential care in a hospital setting.

Apart from her work in health care, Ms. VandeZande has demonstrated expertise in the legal sector as a clerk for the 96th District Court within the Marquette County Courthouse. In this capacity, she manages a demanding schedule that includes working 10-hour shifts at the courthouse while also driving for Uber and DoorDash to support her current educational pursuits. Ms. VandeZande’s role as a clerk in criminal court underscores her dedication to public service and her growing passion for the legal field.

Ms. VandeZande’s academic background reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. She earned a high school diploma before embarking on her career in emergency medical services. In 2010, she obtained an emergency medical technician license, which laid the foundation for her extensive service in healthcare and public safety. Ms. VandeZande has since earned an Associate of Arts in criminal justice and an Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice. She also became an ordained minister, which has allowed her to perform wedding ceremonies and launch a domestic violence training program for which she is receiving certification to teach classes.

Throughout her career, Ms. VandeZande has been recognized for her exceptional communication skills and ability to assist individuals through challenging circumstances. She is widely respected for her extensive community involvement, particularly through her active participation with the Forsyth Township Fire Department, the Forsyth Township Police Department, the Forsyth Township Emergency Medical Services Department and The Salvation Army. Among other civic involvement, Ms. VandeZande has served in various roles for the Marquette Kart Club, including past president. She remains active as a board member for the Community Corrections advisory board and holds memberships in Phi Sigma Pi, Phi Theta Kappa and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Ms. VandeZande’s reputation for community engagement stands as one of her most significant achievements.

Looking ahead, Ms. VandeZande aspires to advance within the criminal justice system by serving as either a magistrate or probation officer. She is currently pursuing coursework toward a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Lake Superior State University. She is particularly interested in working closely with the community, especially with individuals who have been released from prison and are on parole. Ms. VandeZande aims to provide support that helps these individuals reintegrate into society and establish a stable path forward. Her ultimate career goal is to work for the FBI or the U.S. Marshals Service.
