Her expertise encompasses patient intake, triage and assessment of presenting symptoms. She also manages patient phone calls, schedules appointments and evaluates concerns reported by patients. Additionally, Ms. Cortez Lopez administers COVID-19, influenza and strep testing, prepares patients for provider examinations, and ensures completion of provider-ordered tests and follow-up care. Ms. Cortez Lopez’s responsibilities included managing complex administrative processes that ensured timely coordination of care.
Ms. Cortez Lopez spent nearly a decade at Bronson Healthcare, beginning in 2013. During this period, she held several key positions within the organization’s specialty clinics. For four years, Ms. Cortez Lopez worked in a pulmonary office during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period marked by significant challenges due to restrictions on in-person visits and increased reliance on telehealth solutions. Managing two clinics simultaneously while adapting to evolving protocols required resilience and adaptability as she facilitated virtual appointments and maintained continuity of care despite staffing shortages.
In addition to her pulmonary experience, Ms. Cortez Lopez contributed one year in a gastroenterology office and several years in a urology specialty office at Bronson Healthcare. She also gained valuable experience working with a nonprofit organization and for a family practice. Ms. Cortez Lopez began her career in the healthcare sector as an office manager at a dental practice. This position allowed her to develop managerial skills that would later inform her aspirations for leadership within leading healthcare organizations.
Education has played a pivotal role in Ms. Cortez Lopez’s achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Business Management from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2018 after returning to school more than two decades after leaving formal education. Ms. Cortez Lopez also holds the designation of a registered medical assistant, holds basic life support certification and participates in continuing education units (CEUs) as well as training on new procedures and developments.
Ms. Cortez Lopez maintains membership with American Medical Technologists, reflecting her commitment to upholding industry standards. Her commitment extends beyond professional duties into civic engagement within her community. She volunteers at her local church and has participated in service projects at homeless shelters alongside her son, demonstrating a dedication to supporting those in need outside the workplace.
Lauded for her dedication, Ms. Cortez Lopez’s contributions to the urology field were recognized through multiple awards received throughout her tenure.
