Dr. Longshore’s career is marked by her unwavering commitment to mental health and social justice. As the chief executive officer of The Cummings Foundation for Behavioral Health since 2024, she has been instrumental in establishing the first-of-its-kind mental health and wellness model specifically for law enforcement and first responders. She has since implemented this model in agencies across the U.S., effectively funding and researching its efficacy.
In her leading role at the foundation, Dr. Longshore leads a research team in developing publishable research and negotiates contracts with external partners to support target communities. She is also involved in conducting board meetings to guide organizational strategy and governance, as well as evaluating and funding strategic initiatives, such as emerging social media platform startups. Before this position, Dr. Longshore served as the director of psychological wellness and research at the facility from 2023 to 2024.
A former employee of the California Correctional Health Care Services from 2022 to 2023, Dr. Longshore worked as a clinical psychologist, where she focused on individuals with severe mental illness and suicidal ideation. During this time, she was sought out by the Cummings family, who were heirs to a well-known psychologist in the field, recognized as a pioneer of the managed care model, and the founders of The Cummings Foundation for Behavioral Health. Eager to have Dr. Longshore lead their organization, the family was seeking someone with her diverse experience to develop programs that could support law enforcement and first responders.
Dr. Longshore’s academic credentials are extensive and have significantly contributed to her professional success. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and statistics from Florida Atlantic University in 2003, a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of Phoenix in 2006, a Master of Science in psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical forensic psychology from Walden University LLC in 2017 and 2021, respectively, and a Master of Science in clinical psychopharmacology from The Chicago School in 2025. Dr. Longshore’s certification in integrative nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, earned in 2013, further complements her holistic approach to mental health care.
While working toward her advanced degrees, Dr. Longshore gained valuable experience as a pre-doctoral intern at Unified Counseling Mediation in 2020 and as a restorative justice coach and data analyst with Miami-Dade County Public Schools that same year. Subsequently, she completed an internship at Nelson Psychological Services LLC from 2020 to 2021, followed by a residency at Wellpath between 2021 and 2022.
Throughout her career, Dr. Longshore has been actively involved with numerous professional organizations, including the American Psychology–Law Society, the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, the American Society of Criminology, the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology and, among others, the American Psychological Association. Her dedication to community service is evident through her volunteer work with Future Business Leaders of America Inc., local schools and St. Mary’s Shelter.
Lauded for her exceptional work as a clinical psychologist specializing in forensic psychology, neuropsychological assessment and behavioral health, Dr. Longshore’s scholarly works have included ‘The Effect of Social Media Use on Physical Isolation in Individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder,’ via Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies in 2021. The study reflects her research and understanding of how current technological methods of social interaction affect individuals who have borderline personality disorder to improve treatment outcomes.
Dr. Longshore’s contributions have been recognized by local police departments, as well as the California State Senate and the U.S. Department of Justice for her expertise in responding to suicidal inmates, successfully ensuring that none of them lost their lives during her interventions. She attributes her success to her unique perspective on the world and an unwavering belief that she can make a significant impact.
Looking ahead, Dr. Longshore plans to expand her programs beyond law enforcement wellness to include gun violence prevention and policy writing while developing social media platforms that promote mental health within communities. Her advice to others entering the field emphasizes prioritizing patient care above all else while ensuring that politics or personal beliefs do not influence treatment decisions.
