Khristine G. Simmons, MHA, Program Director DMS and dean of sonography at Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements and leadership in Health Care Leadership, Sonography and Administration.
Ms. Simmons has established herself as a distinguished leader and expert in health care leadership, sonography and health care administration, with a career spanning 25 years. In her current capacity as a program director of diagnostic medical sonography and dean of sonography at Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology since 2025, she oversees a small team of faculty members, while managing accreditation, comprehensive program oversight and student management. As the public representative for one of the most extensive diagnostic medical sonography programs in the Southeast, Ms. Simmons plays a pivotal role in shaping the program’s reputation and ensuring its continued excellence.
Before her current appointment, Ms. Simmons was a clinical coordinator and sonography training coordinator at Grady Health System from 2021 to 2025. In this role, she managed student credentialing and placement, ensuring each student had a positive clinical experience at their assigned sites. She was also the primary contact for clinical affiliates, maintaining relationships with existing partners while establishing new ones. Ms. Simmons meticulously oversaw all aspects of the credentialing process, including monitoring immunizations, fire safety and infection control modules, and scheduling students, verifying clinical hours and confirming competencies. She also taught classroom lectures and laboratory sessions four days a week, covering abdominal ultrasound courses each semester as well as laboratory sections for general and vascular ultrasound programs.
From 2021 to 2022, Ms. Simmons contributed her expertise as an American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography tutor with Varsity Tutors, supporting students preparing for professional certification exams. She was also a diagnostic medical sonography instructor at the North Georgia Nursing Academy between 2019 and 2020.
Earlier, Ms. Simmons spent over 20 years as a radiology technologist, ultrasound technologist, registry ultrasonographer and breast sonographer with various health care facilities, including Emory Healthcare, dating back to 1998. During this time, she spent 2012 to 2019 overseas at the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, where she was instrumental in establishing the center’s biopsy service, a key initiative highlighted during her recruitment process. Ms. Simmons successfully launched both breast and prostate biopsy services, significantly enhancing the center’s capabilities in women’s and men’s health care.
Ms. Simmons’ initial exposure to health care began in the early 1990s as an administrative assistant at a cyto-diagnosis center at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey. There, she gained firsthand experience working alongside radiologists, pathologists and patients. This formative period sparked Ms. Simmons’s interest in patient care and inspired her transition into allied health professions.
Highly educated, Ms. Simmons earned a diploma in radiologic technology from DeKalb Medical School of Radiologic Technology, now Emory Decatur Hospital School of Radiologic Technology, where she graduated valedictorian in 2000. She then earned a diploma in diagnostic medical sonography from Grady Health System Professional Schools in 2001. In 2011, Ms. Simmons received a bachelor’s degree in health care leadership, magna cum laude, from the University of St. Francis. Years later, she returned to college, obtaining both a master’s certificate in quality improvement in health care and a master’s degree in health care administration and management from the University of St. Francis in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Beyond her formal education, Ms. Simmons holds numerous certifications that underscore her commitment to professional development. Among them, she earned credentials as a registered vascular technologist and as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Inc. She also became a registered radiologic technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Among other accomplishments, Ms. Simmons completed courses through companies like Coursera Inc. and LinkedIn Learning.
Ms. Simmons is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Inc. Beyond her professional pursuits, she is deeply engaged with civic-minded organizations and community service initiatives. Ms. Simmons has volunteered as a sonographer for Refuge Pregnancy Care, participated as a volunteer for FIFA World Cup events, served as a greeter at local church ministries, contributed time to Women of Significance, and supported Atlanta Hawks food donation events, among other initiatives.
Attributing her success to determination, Ms. Simmons is eager to enhance the influence of Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology’s diagnostic medical sonography program. She also intends to continue developing future generations of skilled sonographers who approach their work with compassion, empathy, technical proficiency and a sense of calling within the field of health care diagnostics.
