With nearly 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Keller has built a successful career in health care, specializing in Epic’s ASAP module for emergency services. Since 2018, he has served as a senior Epic analyst at Columbus Regional Health, a nationally recognized health system serving a 10-county region in southeastern Indiana. In this capacity, he supports the emergency department by building and customizing features within the Epic system to improve patient documentation. He also conducts quarterly system upgrades, reviewing and implementing new features for the ED module, and provides on-call support to ensure users have assistance with the system as needed. His previous experience includes serving as manager of information systems at Indiana University Health from 2014 to 2017 and team lead at the same organization from 2004 to 2017. Additionally, he dedicates his time as a member of The American Legion. He laid an educational foundation, earning a bachelor’s degree in management from Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne, now Purdue University Fort Wayne, in 1993, and a master’s degree in human resource management from the University of Central Texas in 1996.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Keller’s career path was shaped by a diverse range of interests during high school, including sports, teaching, coaching, and accounting. His time in the United States Army further influenced his direction, as he pursued a degree at a nearby university while serving, laying the groundwork for his future career. He entered the health care IT industry 20 years ago, gaining extensive experience through various roles. For the past five years, he has served as a senior Epic analyst at Columbus Regional Health, focusing on emergency department systems. In this role, he has played a key part in enhancing patient documentation, conducting system upgrades, and supporting the emergency department’s electronic medical record systems.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Keller also spent 13 years at IU Health, where he honed his expertise in electronic medical records and health care technology. His dedication to excellence was recognized in the early 2000s when he received the Employee of the Year award at his former company, highlighting his exceptional performance and significant contributions to the health care IT field. He attributes his success to his unwavering passion for helping others. Through his work, he has the opportunity to assist countless individuals in achieving their goals by ensuring the delivery of essential health care services to those in need.
Looking to the future, As he approaches his mid-50s, Mr. Keller is focused on reaching the milestone of retirement in the near future, and he is eagerly working toward this next chapter. Throughout his career, he recognizes that uncertainty often deters people from pursuing new knowledge. His advice is to embrace curiosity and view challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. He has come to understand that, while everyone works toward the same ultimate goal of delivering high-quality patient care, each person brings a unique perspective and approach to achieving it.
