Working closely with physicists and clinical teams, his group was the first to implement IMRT in Utica, New York, and he significantly helped to developing protocols for its use. This achievement stands as a highlight of Mr. Borawski’s professional path, as IMRT has since become a standard practice in radiation oncology.
Since 2008, Mr. Borawski has excelled as an adjunct instructor at the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York. In this role, Mr. Borawski prepares and delivers a six-credit course on radiation therapy each year, guiding students through rigorous coursework from January to May. His responsibilities include planning lessons, administering tests and evaluating student performance. Mr. Borawski is deeply committed to fostering the next generation of professionals in his field and is known for encouraging students through mentorship and letters of recommendation.
During the 1980s, Mr. Borawski began his career as a radiation therapist before transitioning into the emerging field of medical dosimetry. He was actively involved in shaping this discipline during its formative years, contributing to its development and growth within clinical settings. Moreover, Mr. Borawski has maintained active membership in key industry organizations, including the American Association for Respiratory Therapy and the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Borawski pursued an education at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York, from which he earned an Associate of Applied Science in 1980. His commitment to lifelong learning is further demonstrated by several certifications in computer learning, which have enabled him to stay current with evolving technologies critical to modern healthcare delivery.
