Ms. Canady, the divisional minimum data set (MDS) resource at Northern Healthcare, a division of Cascadia Healthcare, has been in her position since 2025. In this capacity, she manages regulatory compliance with both state and federal regulations, trains MDS nurses on evolving regulatory requirements and conducts audits to ensure accurate service capture. Her responsibilities also include preparing for annual fiscal-year changes each October, overseeing the MDS assessment process for billing purposes and generating HIPPS codes for claims submission. Additionally, Ms. Canady provides hybrid support, occasionally traveling to deliver training sessions and actively engages with industry professionals to discuss workforce trends.
Between 2023 and 2024, Ms. Canady served as an MDS resource divisional at Cascadia Healthcare, where she provided oversight and support for MDS processes within the division. Her tenure at Northern Healthcare has been especially significant, particularly during the implementation of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) changes on October 1, 2025. Ms. Canady conducted extensive group training sessions on PDPM for large audiences across the corporation. This pivotal moment in her career was gratifying, as she played a crucial role in guiding her colleagues through an irreversible shift in operational procedures. Ms. Canady’s passion for teaching and educating others was evident throughout this process.
Since 2020, Ms. Canady has also operated as an independent consultant under the name Erin Canady-Denham, RN, providing expert guidance in the field. She also achieved success from 2024 to 2025 as a divisional care coordinator at EmpRes, operated by Evergreen, coordinating care delivery across multiple facilities and ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
At Mission Healthcare in Bellevue from 2020 to 2024, Ms. Canady fulfilled multiple roles, including MDS coordinator, MDS trainer and MDS audit specialist. She simultaneously held the title of clinical reimbursement specialist for the Northwest Division of Life Care Centers of America between 2022 and 2023. Among other positions, Ms. Canady worked as a nurse consultant, registered nurse, case manager and regional nurse consultant for several organizations. She began her career in 2005, working in critical care at Georgetown Hospital System, where she spent over five years before pivoting into long-term care in 2009.
Ms. Canady graduated with an associate’s degree in music from Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in 1997 and an associate’s degree in nursing from Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Conway, South Carolina, in 2008. She is presently pursuing a Master of Science in nursing at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
Beyond her formal education, Ms. Canady holds several certifications that have contributed to her expertise. She received a registered nurse credential from Horry-Georgetown Technical College, a certified tobacco interventionist designation from the University of Arizona, a legal nurse consultant certification from Brandman University, a resident assessment coordinator certification from the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing, and an EKG certification.
Ms. Canady is an active member of the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing and the Washington Health Care Association, reflecting her commitment to professional development and industry engagement. In addition to her professional endeavors, she is the author of “Life is an Adventure,” published by BookLeaf Publishing in 2023.
Attributing her success to a deep dedication to helping others, particularly the vulnerable population, Ms. Canady was also inspired by a personal health challenge following a cancer diagnosis in 2020, resulting in her returning to college after her son began preschool. Eager for the future of her career, she continues to pursue personal growth while maintaining her passion for writing as she moves forward in her journey.
