Alexander “Alex” Dailey, MEd, Certified Athletic Trainer at Michigan State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements and leadership in Athletic Training.
For more than a decade, Mr. Dailey has been establishing himself as a distinguished professional in athletic training, marked by a commitment to advancing patient care, injury prevention and professional leadership. Since 2022, he has served as a certified athletic trainer for recreational sports and fitness services at Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing. In this capacity, Mr. Dailey provides comprehensive support to club student-athletes, intramural participants and the broader student population. His responsibilities include conducting free evaluations and rehabilitation services for orthopedic injuries, performing movement assessments for students seeking to reduce injury risk before starting new activities, and providing coverage for home club sport events and intramural sports throughout the academic year.
In addition to his clinical duties, Mr. Dailey is actively engaged in research at MSU. He is currently leading two Institutional Review Board-approved studies designed to improve patient care and athletic training practices. One project focuses on point-of-care research, enabling him to track patient progress during rehabilitation and analyze which methods most effectively restore range of motion or strength. The second study investigates risk mitigation and injury prevention programs in higher-risk club sports, utilizing three years of data to assess whether these initiatives reduce injury rates. These projects reflect Mr. Dailey’s dedication to evidence-based practice and his desire to share valuable insights with fellow athletic trainers.
Before his acquisition by MSU, Mr. Dailey was an assistant athletic trainer and rehabilitation coordinator at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, from 2019 to 2022. There, he managed rehabilitation protocols for student-athletes, coordinated care plans and contributed to the overall health and performance of the university’s athletic teams. Between 2015 and 2018, Mr. Dailey served as an assistant athletic trainer at Northwood University in Midland, Michigan.
Apart from these notable positions, Mr. Dailey completed an internship as an athletic trainer I at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, which provided him with exposure to a diverse collegiate athletic environment and further developed his clinical skills. He also gained experience in a graduate assistant athletic trainer position at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. During that time, he balanced clinical responsibilities with advanced coursework in kinesiology and athletic training. Earlier, Mr. Dailey completed an athletic training internship with the Detroit Tigers Major League Baseball organization in Lakeland, Florida.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Dailey acquired a Bachelor of Science in athletic training, with high honors, from MSU in 2014, during which time he served as a research assistant on campus. He then acquired a Master of Education in kinesiology with a concentration in athletic training from the University of Virginia in 2015.
Mr. Dailey’s commitment to ongoing education is reflected in numerous certifications in such areas as active release techniques for the nerve, spine level one, lower extremity level one and upper extremity level one through Active Release Techniques LLC and ART Corporate Solutions Inc. He also holds certifications in first aid, CPR, and AED instruction through the American Red Cross. Among several other professional qualifications, Mr. Dailey received credentials as a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a license as an athletic trainer through the State of Michigan, and certification as an athletic trainer through the Board of Certification Inc.
Throughout his career, Mr. Dailey has demonstrated expertise in manual therapy, rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries, movement assessment and mitigating injury risk, positioning him as a leader in his field. His professional involvement has extended beyond clinical practice into organizational leadership within the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society. He has served as president-elect since 2025 after previously holding several other titles. Mr. Dailey also maintains active membership with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society, among others.
Mr. Dailey’s contributions extend into scholarship and thought leadership with several presentations, including one in which he presented on rehabilitation at the 2025 Annual Clinical Symposium for the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society. He also co-authored a book independently in 2002, titled “From Broken to Boss,” and has contributed to several professional publications, such as the Journal of Athletic Training.
Mr. Dailey’s achievements have been recognized with several awards, recently including the Outstanding Young Professional Award from the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society in 2025. He attributes his success to attentive listening skills that allow him to tailor recovery plans based on each patient’s unique needs. Looking ahead, Mr. Dailey aims to complete his ongoing research projects with Institutional Review Board approval at MSU while sharing findings that could enhance patient care across the field of athletic training. He also plans to deliver a TEDx Talk addressing musculoskeletal disorders among adults with an emphasis on proactive risk mitigation within health care systems nationwide, ultimately striving for healthier communities where individuals can remain active throughout their lives.
