Before becoming an outpatient therapist at Nystrom & Associates, Mr. Siegfried worked as an adult rehabilitative mental health services practitioner at the health care facility from 2018 to 2020.
Initially working as a psychometrician for Associated Psychological Service Ltd. in 2012, Mr. Siegfried later became a mental health practitioner at Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports as part of Nystrom & Associates, followed by his role as a mental health practitioner. While pursuing his degrees, he interned at Augsburg University and the Lifespan of Minnesota Youth Transition Program, taught at the Sylvan Learning Center, guest lectured at Saint Paul College, and served as an assistant professor at Park University. Before commencing his full-time career in mental health, Mr. Siegfried completed a mental health assessment practicum at Wiger & Associates, Associated Psychological Services, in 2017.
In preparation for his career in mental health care, Mr. Siegfried graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Augsburg University in 2012 and a Master of Arts in counseling and psychological services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2014. He also completed two years of a doctoral program toward a Doctor of Psychology. Beyond his formal education, Mr. Siegfried is an active member of the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, which has allowed him to remain at the forefront of his professional community. He also remains active as a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, and is involved with the American Writers and Artists Institute.
Attributing his success to various factors, including his willingness to take risks and explore unknown aspects of the field, Mr. Siegfried also notes the significance of several mentors from whom he has collaborated and learned, especially when facing various challenges in the industry. Currently working with one doctor who has taught him a great deal about assessments, he also collaborated with another expert specializing in sleep research, where he conducted studies for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. Moreover, Mr. Siegfried gained extensive knowledge about several types of anxiety disorders and the effects of prolonged exposure therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder from several others.
Mr. Siegfried has recently completed training to work with police, military personnel, and other first responders and looks forward to additional training in the future to further enhance his capabilities. He also anticipates conducting further studies in dialectical behavior therapy and possibly eye movement desensitization reprocessing. Excited about the many possibilities the field has to offer, Mr. Siegfried’s primary goal is to help as many individuals as possible.
