Catherine H. Garrow, MSW, LICSW, business owner and therapist at Unbound Minds PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health.
With a decade and a half of experience, Ms. Garrow has established a successful career in mental wellness and therapy, specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, psychodynamic therapy, family systems, strength-based approaches, and person-centered therapy. She currently serves as the owner of Unbound Minds PLLC, formerly Catherine Garrow PLLC, a role she has held since 2023. Her practice involves working with clients ranging from age 6 to 72, addressing a variety of issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood trauma, behavioral challenges such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, addiction, and severe mental health conditions like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. She also supports adolescents transitioning into adulthood, offering life coaching and teaching SMART goals. Prior to this, she owned Catherine Garrow PLLC from 2021 to 2023, where she provided similar services. Her earlier roles include social worker in Bellevue School District’s EBD programs from 2012 to 2017, therapist at Mindful Therapy Group, social worker for Head Start, and child counselor at Youth Eastside Services.
Ms. Garrow also dedicates her time as a volunteer with Hopelink’s food bank and local church food donation programs, and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She laid an educational foundation, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from Eastern Washington University in 2009 and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in clinical therapy and health care from the University of Washington in 2012. Additionally, she is pursuing a Substance Use Professional Development Training license and holds a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker certification.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Garrow’s early life was marked by challenges, growing up with a young mother and a father who struggled with addiction. However, her mother’s involvement in the church introduced her to the value of community service. Later, her life took a pivotal turn when her son Jaden was born with a permanent disability due to a birth injury, which led her to engage deeply with the disability community and pursue a master’s degree to support individuals like Jaden. She was recently approached by the Redmond police department to implement a program pairing social workers with officers to address mental health crises and reduce gun violence. She is currently engaged in training social workers and collaborating with officers in this part-time role while continuing her private practice to support more individuals.
