With over 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Barham has made a profound impact in the fields of hypnosis, government service and the military. Currently excelling as the owner of Johnny Peyton Enterprises since 2000, he serves as a consulting hypnotist, helping individuals harness the power of the trance state for personal development and well-being. In this role, he combines his expertise in hypnotherapy with his background in communications and strategic planning.
Prior to this position, he was active as a comedy stage hypnotist since 1993, blending entertainment with therapeutic techniques. Previously, he served in several significant roles within the U.S. government. He was the GS-14 chief of communications for fraud detection and national security at the Department of Homeland Security from 2006 to 2008 and the GS-15 director of external affairs for the office of the special trustee for American Indians at the Department of the Interior from 2008 to 2015. He began his career as a public affairs officer and specialist in the U.S. Army, serving from 1977 to 1999, and in the National Guard from 1976 to 1977.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Barham pursued an education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned an associate degree in technical illustration in 1976. He continued his academic efforts at Regents College, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in communications in 2000. He concluded his studies with certifications in hypnosis, including becoming a certified consulting hypnotist from the National Guild of Hypnotists in 2000 and certification from the British Association of Therapeutical Hypnotists in 2003. Following these accomplishments, he completed additional training in hypnosis at the New England School of Hypnotherapy, further enhancing his expertise.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Barham has participated in various civic activities, contributing to foster children, local churches, and various health agencies. He also worked as a consultant in his own business and as an independent business owner from 2015 to 2018. He also found success with his dedication to public service, notably as part of U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2006, and as an inventory manager at Hotspring Spas from 2005 to 2006.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Barham remains affiliated with various professional organizations, including the National Guild of Hypnotists, the American Counseling Association, and the British Association of Therapeutical Hypnotists. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized with two Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, and three Army Achievement Medals for his military service. He was also presented with awards for his contributions to the hypnotherapy community.
Mr. Barham attributes his success to the strong foundation laid by his parents, both educators who instilled in him the importance of education and perseverance.
