She began her career at the University of Arizona as a teaching assistant from 2003 to 2004 and as a research assistant from 2003 to 2006. She established herself as a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart Retail Pharmacy from 2008 to 2010 and at Express Scripts Mail-Order Pharmacy from 2010 to 2011.
Ms. Mackay continued her career as a private tutor at Bright Start Tutoring Services from 2011 to 2016. She found success as a therapist I at Ascend Behavioral Health and Wellness, LLC from 2016 to 2018 and as a mental health counselor at Destiny Behavioral Health Residential Care, LLC from 2019 to 2020. She served as a per diem therapist at Calvary Healing Center from 2017 to 2020. At Gentle Path and Willow House at The Meadows, she served as an EMDR-trained LPC psychotherapist from 2020 to 2022. Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Mackay pursued an education at the University of Arizona, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 2006. She continued her academic efforts at Rio Salado College, obtaining an associate degree in substance abuse and addiction counseling in 2015. She concluded her studies at Capella University, graduating with a master’s degree in general mental health counseling in 2018. She is a certified sex addiction therapist, an internationally certified alcohol and drug counselor, and holds a safe and sound protocol certification.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Mackay has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. At 101.5 KFGM, she sat on the board and held the role of presenter. She contributed as a tutor with the United Way and the Hands on Network and served as an office and kitchen aid at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals.
