Fatima Omarufilo, MPH, Patient Navigator and Outreach Coordinator for Montefiore Medical Center’s Montefiore Einstein Starfish Program, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health outreach.
Since 2019, Ms. Omarufilo has excelled as a patient navigator and outreach coordinator for Montefiore Medical Center’s Montefiore Einstein Starfish Program. The novel Hepatitis B awareness outreach program operates in West Africa, working with medical professionals and faith-based organizations to hold educational events and offer testing for the disease. In this position, Ms. Omarufilo schedules patients and gives outreach presentations. From 2007 to 2019, she was a cardiac monitoring technician and patient care technician at Montefiore Medical Center. In 2008, she was a nursing attendant at Mount Sinai Queens.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Omarufilo earned an associate degree in medical administration from Monroe College in 2012. She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in public health the same institution in 2013. In 2015, she graduated from Monroe College with a Master of Public Health. Alongside her formal degrees, Ms. Omarufilo holds numerous professional credentials, including in Group One Biomedical Research through the CITI Program. She is a certified arrhythmia technician and certified nursing technician with the Montefiore Health System, and completed a clinical practice course for clinical trials involving drugs in 2021.
For her professional accomplishments, Ms. Omarufilo received the Responsible 100 Award from the City and State of New York in 2022. She was also recognized with an Award of Excellence and a Certificate of Achievement for Healthcare Workers Support Group Program from the African International Collaboration Center in 2022. Since 2013, Ms. Omarufilo has maintained affiliation with the National Society of Leadership and Success. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking.
