Karen Ann Nussbaumer, founder and co-owner of The CURE Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of medicine.
Drawing on more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Nussbaumer is a proven expert in the health care industry. In 2007, she founded The CURE Center in White Plains, New York, a health care clinic centered on ultrasound research and education. Throughout her time as a co-owner for the institution, she has specialized in various medical technologies for vascular procedures, sonographies, physiology, oncology and pathophysiology. As part of her endeavors within the organization, Ms. Nussbaumer recently founded a new arm of the business in Danbury, Connecticut, in 2022, where she continues to serve as a co-owner.
Prior to beginning her own health care business, Ms. Nussbaumer operated as a technical manager and general and vascular instructor for the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from 2004 to 2006. Additionally, in 2003, she was a level three sonographer at the West Florida Hospital, and from 2001 to 2003, she excelled as a contract sonographer and vascular technologist at Staff Smart Inc. In her earliest previous leadership endeavors, Ms. Nussbaumer was the founder and co-owner of the Gulfcoast Institute of Vascular Ultrasound (Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute Inc.) in Mobile, Alabama, between 1999 and 2001.
Well-regarded for her scholarly output as well, Ms. Nussbaumer has authored numerous papers and articles for medical journals during the early stages of her career. In 2009, she wrote “The Primary Cause of Embolism in Acute Trauma Patients: Fat Versus Thrombus,” which was published by the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, and in 2008, she co-authored “Is Upper Extremity deep vein thrombosis underdiagnosed in trauma patients?” from the American Journal of Surgery. As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Nussbaumer also pursued a formal education, recently earning a Bachelor of Science in vascular technology at the Oregon Institute of Technology, cum laude, in 2020. She has otherwise been certified to practice diagnostic medical sonography ultrasound since 1997, in addition to holding several other pertinent certifications.
To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Nussbaumer has been honored with numerous accolades for her work in the field, as well as for her written works and academic presentations. Likewise, she is proud to have pioneered new ultrasound education procedures in the United States, as part of her efforts at the Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute. In light of her fulfilling career, she has largely attributed her success to her clear vision and positive experiences throughout her career. Looking to the future, Ms. Nussbaumer hopes to continue expanding the efforts of The CURE Center and establish new ultrasound centers across the country.
