Following obtaining a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Rochester in New York, Dr. Trost continued his education with a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in California and a Doctor of Philosophy in health psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology.
After serving as a marriage, family and child counseling intern with Turning Point Counseling from 1988 to 1990, Dr. Trost excelled as a Marriage and Family Therapist II with Orange County Health Care Agency from 1990 to 1994. From 1996 to 2020, Dr. Trost provided superior service as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Kaiser Permanente in Santa Ana and since 2020 in private practice, with his specialties including counseling eating disorders, substance abuse and anger management. His professional memberships include the California Association for Family Therapists.
Dr. Trost attributes his success to his curiosity more than skill. He is always interested in the people sitting in front of him which helps a lot because people can tell that he is listening. Dr. Trost considers his most notable achievement to be his role on the faculty of a Family Medicine Residence program where he is part of training family physicians. He is the only person in the faculty who is not a physician. He was part of the program for 22 years. In the end, he was involved with the training of more than 150 physicians.
Dr. Trost’s goal in the next five to 10 years is to spend time with his wife and travel to different places. He would also like to do more therapy and photography, as he is an accomplished wedding and event photographer.
