Craig E. Spieker, Assistant Chief Paramedic at Blanchard Valley Health System has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in emergency services.

Inspired by his father, a retired Police Officer and Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Spieker decided to pursue a career in law enforcement at an early age. A graduate of Owens Community College, he received an Associate of arts in Criminal Justice and political science in 2012. Soon thereafter, Mr. Spieker completed coursework to become a paramedic and emergency medical technician from James A. Rhodes State College the following year. In the past, he served as an Airborne Military Policeman and Accident Investigator in the United States Army for five years and is a Desert Shield/Storm Veteran. He subsequently became a Patrol Officer for the Findlay Police Department, where he served for 17 years before in retiring 2012.

Today, Mr. Spieker serves in the capacity of assistant chief and Paramedic for Hanco EMS in Findlay. He is also the co-owner and lead instructor of the Buckeye Emergency Response Training School. He is a volunteer Fire Captain/Paramedic with the Liberty Twp. Fire Department, a Captain for the Ohio Special Response Team, a member of the North-East Ohio Search and Rescue Team, and a member of the Tyler County Office of Emergency Management Search and Rescue Team in West Virginia. Mr. Spieker attributes his success to his family and providing a great support group throughout his life and career.

Outside of his profession, Mr. Spieker has also offered his expertise as a Guest Instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, a Director, Instructor and Lead Evaluator for the National Association for Search and Rescue, and the Coordinator for the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Search and Recovery Team. He is a member of the Crisis Intervention and Stress Management (CISM) Team, a member of the Hancock County Sexual Assault Response Team, and an FAA licensed Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) pilot with the Hancock County UAS Team. Looking toward the future, Mr. Spieker would like to continue excelling in his field as a first responder. He would also like to continue teaching and spreading his knowledge to others.
