Karim Rothwell, “The FICO Guy,” Chairman at The Macwell Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business and music.
Backed by various avenues of expertise in business, Mr. Rothwell is distinguished as the owner, chairman and account executive for The Macwell Company. In his role since 2020, the company handles expedited shipping, biohazardous waste transportation and medical equipment leasing to nursing homes and medical facilities. In addition, he is also the owner and credit educator of The FICO Guy (Finance, Internet, Cash Flowing Operations), providing clients with credit education and repair consultant services. In conjunction with his business endeavors, Mr. Rothwell worked as a registered respiratory therapist between 2010 and 2022.
Mr. Rothwell began his professional journey working as a record label executive with his own label, 229 Records. Passionate about music from a young age, he played several instruments throughout his life, including guitar and saxophone. He later became interested in audio recording and wanted more involvement in music production. Working alongside his brothers, they established their company in 2003, housing their publishing needs and controlling distribution for the records. Notably, Mr. Rothwell was honored with a Tone Award for Pop and Alternative Rock and was named Independent Hip Hop Group of the Year as part of the Blaq Pyrates group in 2017. In 2018, he won an additional Tone Award and was named Artist of the Year for the single “Problems.”
To prepare for his future, Mr. Rothwell earned a degree in liberal arts from Tallahassee Community College in 2003 and a Bachelor of Science in exercise science, with minors in nutrition and fitness, from Florida State University in 2005. He then attained an Associate of Science in respiratory care from Darton State College in 2010 and certification as a registered respiratory therapist. Looking toward the future, Mr. Rothwell intends to spend more time honing his personal brand as the Fico Guy. Additionally, he and his team are working on various mergers and acquisitions, aiming to purchase another transportation company to expand the business geometrically. Also holding an interest in cigars, he plans to design his own cigar brand, potentially growing his own tobacco and building a relationship with a factory in Nicaragua.
