Bill Wright, Retired Program Coordinator at South Carolina Department of Corrections Division of Industries, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corrections.
From 1975 to 2011, Mr. Wright worked as a program coordinator with the South Carolina Department of Corrections Division of Industries, a self-supporting program that trains inmates. The organization provides a learning institution where inmates can study a job or trade, such as building furniture, enabling them to provide a service for themselves and find success after their release. Mr. Wright set up a system in which inmates attended school, learned to work with sheet metal, and then went on to work in the industry.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Wright attended North Greenville University and graduated with an Associate of Arts in psychology with a minor in sociology. He is a retired law enforcement officer, and alongside his work with the South Carolina Department of Corrections Division of Industries, he worked with the United States Postal Service. For his professional excellence, he was the recipient of 27 Can Do Awards.
Mr. Wright has been committed to contributing to his community throughout his career. In addition to his primary posts, he was a volunteer with the Special Olympics and a coach for little league baseball. He also contributed his time as a Sunday school teacher at a local church.
Mr. Wright has been affiliated with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association and the National Sheriff’s Association. In the coming years, he hopes to build a second lakefront house and continue enjoying his retirement. He looks forward to watching his grandchildren grow and find success. In his spare time, Mr. Wright enjoys fishing and hunting.
