Mandi Capron, Lead Medical Technologist at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical technology services.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in medical technology at University of Buffalo, State University of New York in 1988, Ms. Capron served her country as a commissioned officer with the medical service corps in the U.S. Army Reserve from 2005 to 2016, achieving the rank of captain after training with the Officer Leadership School at Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio. With the Army Reserve, she supervised laboratory staff and oversaw routine and emergency blood drives for wounded soldiers. Ms. Capron was recognized for her dedication during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Since 2009, Ms. Capron has excelled as a medical technologist with University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Her specialties include bloodwork and hospital laboratory work; equipment testing, calibration, and operation; information confidentiality and regulatory compliance; high-complexity testing; departmental lab processes; specimen processing, testing, and analysis; and infection control and PPE compliance. To remain aware of changes and advancements in her field, Ms. Capron maintains affiliation with the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists and the Society of Armed Forces Medical Laboratory Scientists.
As a career highlight, Ms. Capron is most proud of her service in the Army Reserve, which she was inspired to join after the events of September 11, 2001. She has been involved in a campaign to encourage people to donate to military personnel serving overseas. In the coming years, Ms. Capron will be looking forward to retirement and having the ability to travel for leisure.
