Rosalind Russell, Clinical Social Worker, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in social work.
Supported by more than 45 years of experience within the field of social work, Ms. Russell received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from San Francisco State University in 1975 and a Master of Social Work in social welfare from the University of California Berkeley in 1977. A licensed clinical social worker, she commenced her career in 1972 as the co-founder of UNITE (“Unbiased, Nonsexist, Inter-ethnic, Training and Education”), fulfilling the role for the following five years. During her tenure there, she received grants to provide individuals with jobs from the Santa Barbara Community College and the University of California Berkeley. Joining the United States Air Force in 1978, she served as a first lieutenant then commander prior to her military retirement in 1991. During this time, she served the University of Texas Health Center as a social worker and medical social worker III between 1981 and 1989, as well as the Hillview Nursing Home as a social worker from 1993 to 1996. For the subsequent 21 years, Ms. Russell excelled as a consultant social worker for home health agencies, and from 2017 to 2020, she was a clinical social worker.
Ms. Russell has maintained affiliation with the National Association of Social Workers, the National Association of Black Social Workers, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the College Campus Association of Black Social Workers. She has received myriad recognition for her community service efforts and contributions to the United States Navy in light of her expertise in and dedication to social work. She attributes her profound success to the support and encouragement of her parents, her sense of dignity, her respect for others, and her strong independence. Looking toward the future, Ms. Russell intends to return to college and obtain a doctorate degree, as well as return to clinical social work in a remote setting.
