Karen Green, DNP, Epic Lead at K Green LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements and leadership in Health Care.
Dr. Green, a leader in health care and information technology, has been marked by more than 25 years of professional experience. Since 2000, she has served as the Epic lead at KGreen, LLC, where she manages the Epic application and ensures that all team members adhere to protocols designed to maintain patient safety. Dr. Green’s leadership has been instrumental in helping individuals and health care facilities meet regulatory, financial and safety responsibilities.
In preparation for her future, Dr. Green pursued extensive education. In 1976, she received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Years later, she acquired a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990. Dr. Green then attended the University of Phoenix, where she was awarded a master’s degree in computer information systems in 2004 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2009. More recently, she acquired a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2021. This degree provided advanced clinical and research skills that have informed her work on neonatal abstinence syndrome and substance abuse interventions and have been foundational to her entrepreneurial success. Dr. Green’s dedication to professional excellence is further reflected in her membership with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Green is deeply committed to community service and faith-based outreach. She actively hosts events at her church and participates in initiatives such as Drive By for Prayer, offering spiritual support to community members from their vehicles each week. Dr. Green also collaborates with a veteran friend to distribute food to people experiencing homelessness during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. She remains dedicated to charity work in other ways as well.
Throughout her career, Dr. Green has attributed her achievements to prayer and the influence of her mother and spiritual mother, whose guidance instilled the values of mentoring and service. She is recognized for her persistence and determination, qualities that have enabled her to overcome challenges and support others’ growth.
Among Dr. Green’s most notable achievements in her field was securing grants through innovative health record configurations. During her doctoral studies, she obtained funding for two facilities to address neonatal abstinence syndrome. By configuring the SBIRT2 system, Dr. Green facilitated a 3% reduction in neonatal abstinence syndrome at these sites, underscoring her commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Green’s enduring commitment to service, education and advocacy continues to shape both her professional journey and personal mission to help others. Her passion for mentoring extends into every aspect of her life, as she finds fulfillment in witnessing and praying for others. Each client Dr. Green has worked with has honored her uniquely, reflecting the impact of her compassionate approach.
Looking ahead, Dr. Green aims to publish her research on neonatal abstinence syndrome through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and continue making meaningful contributions without seeking recognition. She also aspires to support efforts addressing domestic abuse and hopes to establish a safe space for women affected by it.
