Mr. Columbus has established a unique career as a hearing care professional with Hearing Life in Davidson and Flint, Michigan, where he has served since 2016. Over the course of his tenure in this role, he has become known for his commitment to patient care and community outreach. Each day, Mr. Columbus tests four to six patients, providing comprehensive follow-up care, annual testing, and addressing additional service needs. His responsibilities also include conducting diagnostic tests, assessing individual health needs, making tailored recommendations and delivering detailed service quotations. Before pivoting into the health care sector, Mr. Columbus built a foundation in customer service and management through several roles. From 2008 to 2016, he worked as a sales consultant at Vic Canever, a consultative-based auto sales business, where he honed his skills in client relations and sales strategy. Mr. Columbus held similar positions with Saturn of Clarktown and Waldecker Pontiac Buick between 2000 and 2008.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Columbus worked as an office manager at Wolf Lake Technical Service from 1998 to 2000, overseeing administrative operations and supporting technical staff. His professional journey began as a print room operator at Lason Systems in 1992, where he developed significant organizational skills and attention to detail.

A graduate of Lake Orion High School in Lake Orion in 1989, Mr. Columbus subsequently completed coursework at Oakland Community College. He also earned several professional credentials that have contributed to his professional success. He holds CPR certification, is a certified hearing instrument dealer, and is a board-certified hearing specialist by the State of Michigan.

Mr. Columbus is an active member of several civic-minded organizations, including BPO Elks and the Davidson Chamber of Commerce. His commitment to civic engagement extends to coaching men’s softball teams, youth baseball teams and mentoring the youth. Notably, he served as the head coach for Foutch Baseball and Mayhem Baseball and was the assistant coach for the Grand Blanc Gladiators. Previously, Mr. Columbus lent his time to the Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador from 2006 to 2007.

Additionally, he has fitted more than $1 million worth of hearing aids for patients and provides an average of $750,000 in assistance annually. Mr. Columbus values Hearing Life’s dedication to top-quality equipment, comprehensive testing and exceptional patient care, considering it an excellent workplace that he finds deeply rewarding.

Throughout his career, Mr. Columbus has been recognized for excellence with multiple President’s Club awards from Hearing Life in both 2023 and 2024. He attributes his achievements to his genuine enjoyment of helping others and his adaptability in facing daily challenges. Since childhood, Mr. Columbus has approached others with an open heart and strong listening skills. These qualities have enabled him to build trust with patients and colleagues. Mr. Columbus also credits Andrew Petter for providing the guidance that led him into the hearing care field, as someone who recognized his potential contributions and encouraged him to join the organization.

Looking ahead, Mr. Columbus plans to pursue a management role within Hearing Life by leveraging his extensive coaching experience to support and develop fellow providers while advancing the organization’s mission. He also intends to remain dedicated to his family, including his two sons, one of whom works alongside him as a hearing specialist at Hearing Life, and his youngest, who is pursuing a career as a culinary chef.
