Aly Wagner, Clinical Research Monitor at City of Hope National Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements and leadership in Oncology Clinical Research.

Ms. Wagner has established herself as an expert in oncology clinical research. Since 2025, she has served as a clinical research monitor and auditor at City of Hope National Medical Center, one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the U.S. and one of the leading research centers for diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. In her role, she has played a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of clinical studies, ensuring strict adherence to protocols, verifying the accuracy of data entered into research databases and prioritizing patient safety. Ms. Wagner’s responsibilities also include maintaining drug accountability and collaborating closely with principal investigators to uphold the highest standards of research conduct.

Joining the City of Hope National Medical Center in 2022, Ms. Wagner initially worked as a clinical research coordinator. She also excelled as a clinical research coordinator II at Illinois CancerCare from 2017 to 2022. During this period, she made significant contributions to multidisciplinary conferences, collaborating with surgeons, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists on case discussions. A defining achievement was Ms. Wagner’s involvement in the N1048 protocol study, which led to the establishment of a new standard of care for rectal cancer. Although not directly involved in drug development or medical oncology, her rigorous collection and validation of patient data were instrumental in shaping treatment practices.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Wagner worked as a medical laboratory technician at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, starting in 2016. Her earlier experience as a laboratory assistant and medical laboratory technician at OSF HealthCare in 2016 provided foundational exposure to clinical laboratory operations, reinforcing her enthusiasm for science.

Ms. Wagner’s passion for oncology research is deeply personal. Inspired by witnessing loved ones’ face cancer diagnoses during high school, she sought ways to make a meaningful impact beyond traditional gestures of support. This experience ignited Ms. Wagner’s dedication to advancing clinical research that offers hope to patients and families.

Following high school, Ms. Wagner earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and criminal justice from Eureka College in 2014. She later acquired a master’s degree in clinical research management from The Ohio State University in 2022. In addition to her formal education, Ms. Wagner obtained credentials as a certified clinical research professional through the Society of Clinical Research Associates and recognition as a certified medical laboratory technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. These designations underscore her commitment to maintaining high standards of practice within the field.

Beyond her primary responsibilities, Ms. Wagner is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates, reflecting her dedication to ongoing professional development and industry engagement. Civically engaged, she serves as a mentor with The GITM Foundation and as a volunteer coach for high jump, long jump, triple jump and track events.

Throughout her career, Ms. Wagner has acquired comprehensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including international harmonization standards, good clinical practices and U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidelines. These skills have been critical to her success as both a coordinator and monitor.

Ms. Wagner attributes her achievements to technical mastery, emotional intelligence and visual leadership, qualities that have been honed through rigorous mentorship under managers and principal investigators at City of Hope National Medical Center. The collaborative environment fostered by these mentors has shaped her approach to patient safety and cross-disciplinary teamwork.

Aiming to remain dedicated to monitoring within oncology clinical research, Ms. Wagner also intends to expand her influence through leadership opportunities to further elevate professional standards across the field. She is also committed to increasing awareness about the demanding nature of clinical research careers by mentoring others and advocating for greater visibility for research professionals through conference presentations and organizational involvement.
