Gerardo Lara, Senior Director of Sexual and Reproductive Health at PAI, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Health Care Leadership.
Mr. Lara, a senior director of sexual and reproductive health, access and equity at PAI in Washington, D.C., began his career in 2022. In this capacity, he is responsible for examining how projects impact women’s health, including neonatal health, women’s health, nutrition, youth and adolescents. Moreover, Mr. Lara engages in promoting universal health worldwide by managing data. His expertise in spearheading and delivering projects within strict timelines and achieving measurable outcomes in health care delivery have been instrumental in his success. His wealth of team management, project management and leadership skills have also greatly benefited his role.
Before joining PAI, Mr. Lara was a self-employed international development consultant from 2021 to 2022. He also worked abroad for Plan International, a nonprofit development and humanitarian organization, as a global fund project manager between 2013 and 2019 and then as the country director from 2019 to 2021. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lara garnered success as the country director for the Asociación PASMO, a health and human services organization in El Salvador, from 2004 to 2013, where he was primarily responsible for new business growth, donor relations and forming relations with private foundations. Pivoting to the non-governmental organization sector, he worked in communications for one year before being offered his position in El Salvador to manage its health program.
Mr. Lara received an Associate of Arts in graphic design and a bachelor’s degree in communications from the Universidad Dr. Jose Matias Delgado. He has been active professionally since 2016 as the president and founder of Citizen Action. He also donates to various environmental causes and women’s rights organizations. Attributing his success to having an open mind and continuous learning, Mr. Lara looks forward to future opportunities where he can make a difference in women’s health.
