Laying a solid educational foundation, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, a Master of Science in health care administration with a focus on business, management, and marketing from the University of New Orleans, and a Master of Business Administration in health care administration and management from the University of New Orleans in 2023. She is also a registered nurse and a grant recipient for LSU’s Nursing School.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Fortuné-Toney recalls how caring for her sick grandmother during hospice inspired her to pursue a career in health care. She also takes great pride in earning her master’s degree in health care administration, a significant achievement that guided her shift from aspiring nurse practitioner to a passion for health care management. She finds fulfillment in the challenges of motivating and guiding her team, with encouragement from her chief nursing officer also influencing her decision to pursue administration. She attributes her success to her parents, especially her mother, whose heart-to-heart conversations on love and nurturing often come to mind when managing employees. She strives to approach discipline with grace, correcting employees with empathy and understanding.
Throughout her journey, Ms. Fortuné-Toney has learned the importance of making others feel valued and appreciated, believing that showing people they matter builds a stronger team. She prioritizes coaching, educating, and collaborating with her team to bring out their best. She also believes that her passion for health care, dedication to service, and genuine care for others set her apart.
