Title: Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Daena A. Casey, DNP, FNP-BC, nurse practitioner at Essen Health Care, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care and education.

With a decade and a half of experience to her credit, Dr. Casey has built a successful career in health care and education, specializing in urgent care, cardiology, and IV hydration. She currently serves as a part-time nurse practitioner (NP) at Included Health, a role she has held since 2024, and as an NP at Essen Health Care since 2020. Her experience also includes working as an NP at Allium Diagnostic Imaging in 2021, a nursing administrator at New York-Presbyterian Hospital from 2020 to 2022, an NP at 3T Open Imaging of Westchester from 2020 to 2021, and as a clinical manager at New York-Presbyterian Hospital from 2016 to 2020.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Casey was a staff nurse at New York-Presbyterian Hospital from 2009 to 2016. In addition to her health care roles, she served as adjunct faculty at Mercy University from 2019 to 2022 and at The College of New Rochelle from 2016 to 2019. She is actively involved with the International Nursing Society, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and has been honored with the Student of the Year Award from Pace University and the Falcon Award from New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Laying a solid educational foundation, Dr. Casey earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pace University in 2009, a Master of Science in family nurse practitioner from Pace University in 2015, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Pace University in 2019. She is a registered nurse in eight states and holds certifications as a family nurse practitioner and in psychiatric-mental health nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Additionally, she is certified in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support by the American Heart Association.

Reflecting on her path, Dr. Casey has accomplished a great deal, earning both her doctorate and master’s degrees while managing a demanding schedule. Despite the challenges, she took full advantage of tuition reimbursement from New York-Presbyterian and continued to advance her education. During this time, she also became a clinical manager and worked as a hospital administrator on weekends and holidays, demonstrating her commitment and resilience.

Dr. Casey attributes her professional success to the strong foundation she received early in her career. She cherished her time at Pace University and felt well-supported in her first nursing role. Looking ahead, she is committed to advancing her career while prioritizing her family. She plans to return to clinical work, possibly in urgent care and is also considering a role in teaching. Family has become a top priority, so she intends to reduce her workload and dedicate more time to them. She remains determined to maintain her clinical skills, which is why she pursued a Doctor of Nursing Practice rather than a PhD, as the DNP offers a stronger clinical focus. She ultimately envisions continuing to work or teach part-time, allowing her to balance her professional ambitions with her family life.
