Ashley E. Coker, freelance health care executive and program management consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.
With two decades of experience in health care to her credit, Ms. Coker has established a successful career specializing in program management. Since 2024, she has excelled as a freelance health care executive and program management consultant. In this role, she handles administrative duties, including revenue cycles and accounting, while overseeing operational and clinical services in collaboration with health care professionals. Currently, she is consulting as the program manager for an ERP consolidation implementation and leading a digital healthcare transformation project, managing a team of about 35 people and working closely with the entire C-suite. Her experience includes vice president of information technology at Eating Recovery Center from 2021 to 2024 and director of the program management office in 2021. She also served as an IT healthcare consultant at Himformatics from 2004 to 2021 and a student assistant at Georgia Tech Research Institute from 2000 to 2004.
Ms. Coker has also dedicated her time as music director, business manager, social committee member, arranger, and vocal percussionist for Octave A Cappella from 2007 to 2015. She has memberships with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, a global non-profit organization focused on improving healthcare through the effective use of information technology and management systems. HIMSS provides resources, education, and advocacy to enhance health information and management systems, aiming to advance healthcare delivery and patient outcomes through technology and innovation, and was awarded the President Scholarship at Georgia Institute of Technology. Laying a strong educational foundation, she earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management with a minor in French from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004. Additionally, she holds a certification in CIO Connect from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, obtained in 2024, along with certifications in international business, finance, technology management, and music from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Coker sees herself as a generalist in health care, with a broad range of experience in various aspects of the industry. She entered health care immediately after college, joining a startup IT healthcare consulting company, where she quickly discovered her passion for health care and consulting. She takes great pride in leading a team of 30 people in developing a patient system from scratch, designed to streamline patient intake. Her work in recovery clinics and mental health care systems helped automate and digitally transform patient response processes.
Ms. Coker attributes her success to hard work, perseverance, passion, and creating an enjoyable work environment for herself and others. Looking to the future, she aspires to become a CIO for a large national or international health care system and hopes to serve as a board member for a health care system she is passionate about. Personally, she dreams of diving at the Great Barrier Reef and in Thailand, while also focusing on her physical health journey. She is committed to developing tools that benefit patients and clinicians, such as clinical portals and health information exchanges, which support preventative care and improve patient outcomes.
