Geoffrey D. Nusbaum Ph.D., Psychotherapist with Medpsych Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health care.
Dr. Nusbaum grew up with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as his role model and was inspired by the leader to uplift people from their hurt and pain. He discovered he could best contribute in this manner to the mental health field, and ventured in this direction with his academic pursuits. He first earned a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis (1967) before receiving a Master of Arts (1971) and a Ph.D. from Hartford Seminary Foundation (1978). Also in 1978, he began working as a consultant with the New York Fertility Research Foundation.
In 1983, Dr. Nusbaum joined the Bancroft School in Haddonfield, New Jersey as a consultant, and remained in this post until 1987. He has been in his private practice since 1972 with locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the greater New York City area. Furthermore, he was designated a Fellow of the International Council on Sex Education and Parenthood of the American University. He is a Fellow and Diplomate with the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and is a certified therapist with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Nusbaum is a licensed therapist.
In addition to his work in helping heal others through psychotherapy, Dr. Nusbaum is an author. He has written and published a chapter titled, “The Country Place: An Intentional Therapeutic Community” in the textbook, “Community, Self and Identity (1978). He has served as a peer manuscript reviewer for the American Journal for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is one of the founders of the Psychological Issues Section of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Throughout his career, he has maintained professional affiliation with the New York Academy of Science and many other organizations. He is a member of MENSA International.
