Before her current position, Dr. Woodard was the regional director of operations at Thrive Pet Healthcare from 2022 to 2025. In this capacity, she managed multiple facilities, implemented best practices across locations and fostered collaboration among veterinary professionals. Dr. Woodard’s strategic oversight contributed significantly to the organization’s growth and reputation. Her career at Thrive Pet Healthcare began in 2020 as an area medical director, where she provided clinical guidance and mentorship to veterinarians throughout the region, ensuring high standards of patient care and professional development for staff members.
Before being acquired by Thrive Pet Healthcare, Dr. Woodard served as a medical director at VCA Animal Hospitals from 2019 to 2020. She began her tenure with the health care organization as an associate veterinarian in 2007. For more than a decade in this capacity, Dr. Woodard developed her clinical acumen and built lasting relationships with clients and their pets, earning recognition for her compassionate approach and technical proficiency.
Dr. Woodard’s academic achievements have played a pivotal role in her professional journey. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences, summa cum laude, from Texas A&M University in 2002, followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, cum laude, from Texas A&M Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences in 2006. During her studies, Dr. Woodard completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Animal Hospitals in Gaithersburg, Maryland, from 2006 to 2007. Notably, she was voted Most Outstanding Student by the faculty during her veterinary studies, a distinction made more meaningful because she was the only veterinarian among her peers.
More recently, Dr. Woodard obtained a Master of Business Administration, magna cum laude, at Texas A&M University in 2020. In addition to her formal education, her commitment to lifelong learning is further evidenced by certifications in oral and dental pain and inflammation from dvm360® and veterinary CPR, basic and advanced, from RECOVER, both obtained in 2022. These credentials enhance her ability to deliver comprehensive care for animal patients.
Throughout her career, Dr. Woodard has demonstrated a commitment to professional development and industry engagement. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association and serves on the executive board of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Additionally, Dr. Woodard maintains membership with the American Bar Association, reflecting her broad interests in policy and advocacy.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Dr. Woodard has demonstrated civic engagement as a Cub Scout den leader with the Boy Scouts of America from 2017 to 2020. Her dedication to community service complements her work within veterinary medicine.

She attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family, crediting her husband as her strongest source of encouragement. Dr. Woodard acknowledges that the achievements she has realized would not have been possible without the collective support of her loved ones.

Looking ahead, she is committed to advancing legislative efforts to prohibit feline declawing procedures in Illinois and beyond.
