Ms. Tenny is recognized for her expertise in vascular sonography and allied health, marked by a commitment to patient care, education and professional excellence. In 2024, she was promoted to the role of senior vascular sonographer at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, California. In this capacity, Ms. Tenny oversees a laboratory that has expanded to include 12 technicians, presenting both challenges and opportunities for leadership. She is particularly proud of her promotion to this position, as it reflects her dedication to quality assurance and her ability to manage a growing team. Her responsibilities extend beyond clinical oversight as she actively collaborates with students from a local ultrasound college, providing instruction and mentorship that she finds deeply rewarding. Additionally, Ms. Tenny works closely with residents and fellows, imparting her expertise in ultrasound techniques and interpretation.
Since 2020, Ms. Tenny has also served as a course creator and instructor for Medmastery in Salzburg, Austria. This role allows her to share her knowledge on an international platform, developing educational content and teaching medical professionals worldwide. The opportunity to teach through Medmastery stands out as a significant highlight of Ms. Tenny’s career, enabling her to contribute to advancing medical education.
From 2016 to 2024, Ms. Tenny was a vascular sonographer at Stanford Health Care. During this period, she honed her skills in scanning, interpretation and patient care while upholding rigorous quality assurance standards. Before joining Stanford Health Care, she was a lead vascular sonographer and registered cardiac sonographer in the department of cardiology at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Sutter Health, between 2014 and 2016. There, she was responsible for performing complex diagnostic procedures and supporting the development of best practices within the department. Ms. Tenny’s expertise in these areas has become widely recognized within the field.
Ms. Tenny’s earlier experience included serving as a registered vascular technologist at Mint Medical from 2011 to 2014, where she developed her technical proficiency and patient communication skills. Before entering the field of sonography, she worked as a certified group fitness instructor with the American Council on Exercise from 2009 to 2011 and as a certified massage therapist at Alpha School of Massage Inc. between 2001 and 2004.
Ms. Tenny’s educational background has been instrumental in shaping her career trajectory. She earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology with a minor in psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, in 2009, and was notably named to the National Dean’s List during her studies. She also holds several professional credentials, beginning with certification as a group fitness instructor and certified massage therapist. Additionally, Ms. Tenny holds a designation in basic life support for health care providers from the American Heart Association, Inc., and is recognized as a registered vascular technologist and registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Inc.
Among her professional and civic memberships, Ms. Tenny is affiliated with the Society for Vascular Ultrasound, the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Inc. She is also a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International Honor Society and The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University. Furthermore, Ms. Tenny participates in Toastmasters International and volunteers at a local animal shelter.
Ms. Tenny’s upbringing abroad, which included completing high school in Taiwan, instilled strong academic motivation and determination that have fueled her professional journey. Relocating to the United States for college broadened her perspective and reinforced her commitment to excellence. Looking ahead, Ms. Tenny aspires to advance ultrasound technology with an emphasis on more precise imaging innovations, such as three-dimensional imaging. She is also eager to collaborate with surgeons on surgical protocols and research studies to refine procedures and enhance patient outcomes.
