Since 2023, Ms. Kercher has served as a mental health therapist at Unchained Life Services, a mental health counseling business she established in Bonney Lake, Washington. In this capacity, she provides counseling and therapeutic support to individuals facing a range of mental health challenges. Her work is characterized by a deep understanding of trauma-informed care and a dedication to empowering her clients toward recovery and resilience.
Leveraging her expertise, Ms. Kercher was the executive director, youth director and a therapist at South Sound Dream Center in Auburn, Washington, from 2017 to 2023. During her tenure, she was instrumental in operating an at-risk youth program that became her most notable achievement. Ms. Kercher led this initiative for several years, between 2016 and 2020, which regularly brought together approximately 25 young people each week at a small three-bedroom rambler and occasionally hosted as many as 75 participants in a single evening. The program provided vital support and mentorship to vulnerable youth until it was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Initially hired by South Sound Dream Center in 2013, Ms. Kercher spent 10 years as the office administrator, overseeing administrative operations and contributing to the organization’s overall mission by ensuring effective coordination of programs and services.
While employed at South Sound Dream Center, Ms. Kercher also worked as a mental health clinician at Sound Mental Health CFS in Auburn, Washington, from 2014 to 2015, further shaping her counseling approach.
Ms. Kercher’s academic background has been integral to her professional accomplishments. She earned an Associate of Arts from Highline Community College in 2007, a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from Northwest University in 2014, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in bible studies from Biola University in 2010. Additionally, she completed an internship at Hounds Mental Health. These educational experiences equipped Ms. Kercher with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for effective practice in mental health counseling.
In recognition of her qualifications, Ms. Kercher obtained licensure as a mental health counselor in 2019. This credential underscores her commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and professional development within the field.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Kercher is civically engaged through pro bono work with the Center for Deployment Psychology, reflecting her dedication to supporting military personnel and their families.
Ms. Kercher attributes her success to sheer determination throughout a long and challenging journey, particularly during the difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Her perseverance has enabled her not only to overcome obstacles but also to establish her own private practice.
