Vanessa Figueiredo, Self-Employed Senior Fitness Personal Trainer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Health and Fitness.

Ms. Figueiredo is recognized for her notable career spanning over 35 years in personal fitness and care, with a particular focus on serving seniors and individuals with cognitive and physical challenges. Since 2014, she has been working as a self-employed senior fitness personal trainer. In this capacity, Ms. Figueiredo works primarily with senior citizens, dementia patients and individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, providing tailored physical therapy sessions multiple times each day based on their unique needs. She is most proud of her ability to help clients regain mobility and independence, considering this her most significant professional achievement.

Beginning her professional journey in 1988, Ms. Figueiredo worked as a personal concierge, a role she maintained for more than three decades before retiring from the industry in 2025. This experience provided her with valuable insights into individualized care and client service.

During her tenure as a concierge, Ms. Figueiredo also served as a cosmetology instructor at Trinity Valley Community College, where she shared her knowledge and skills with aspiring professionals from 2001 to 2009. She also owned and operated Vintage Hair Salon between 2006 and 2008, demonstrating entrepreneurial initiative and leadership in the beauty industry.

Ms. Figueiredo’s commitment to holistic wellness is also reflected in her credentials as a functional nutrition lifestyle practitioner and functional nutrition counselor, both awarded by Functional Nutrition Alliance LLC in 2023. She also earned the certified personal trainer designation and a guided group meditation certificate from the International Sports Sciences Association in 2025. That same year, Ms. Figueiredo obtained a certificate in the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, equipping her to better address cognitive health in her practice.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Figueiredo’s dedication extends to civic engagement. For 15 years, she notably volunteered with Individual Care of Texas Inc. in Quinlan, Texas, reflecting her commitment to community service and advocacy for vulnerable populations. The organization provides assisted living services for individuals with special needs in both Quinlan and Abilene, Texas.

Throughout her career, Ms. Figueiredo has attributed her success to several core values, such as patience when working with elderly clients, especially those who may repeat questions or require additional reassurance. Her drive for the industry was shaped by witnessing the challenges faced by one particular family during a difficult time, inspiring her to pursue extensive self-education through books, classes and online resources. This motivation led Ms. Figueiredo to speak at women’s groups and ultimately launch her career in senior fitness and care.

Ms. Figueiredo’s enduring commitment to improving the lives of seniors and supporting caregivers underscores her reputation as a compassionate leader in her field. She notes the importance of making caregivers aware that teaching their loved ones to focus on walking, exercising and eating well is crucial, emphasizing that conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia can be slowed significantly through proper self-care. The sooner they establish a routine, the easier it is for them to maintain healthy habits later in life.

Looking ahead, Ms. Figueiredo aims to increase outreach to caregivers by offering support and additional training in dementia care. Ultimately, she seeks to empower caregivers with knowledge to recognize cognitive decline and to promote activities, such as exercise, that can enhance the quality of life for those they serve.
