Beginning her career at Aspen Valley Health as a part-time travel laboratory technician, Ms. Erwin provided temporary support to the facility, filling critical staffing gaps and performing the same duties as permanent staff members. Her adaptability and commitment ensured seamless laboratory operations during times of transition.
Ms. Erwin’s early career as a travel laboratory technician spanned approximately 15 years, during which she accepted assignments at various hospitals across the United States. Her most recent assignment before joining Aspen Valley Health was at UC Health Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Working through a travel company, Ms. Erwin responded to urgent staffing needs, primarily in rural areas where recruiting permanent staff was particularly challenging. Her ability to quickly integrate into new environments and deliver consistent, high-quality laboratory services distinguished her as a reliable professional.
Playing a significant role in her professional success, Ms. Erwin became highly educated, earning an associate degree in medical laboratory technology from Hinds Community College in 2003. Years later, she returned to college, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in medical laboratory science from the University of Cincinnati in 2016 and a Master of Science in medical laboratory science from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2024.
Ms. Erwin’s commitment to professional development is further evidenced by numerous professional credentials. She is a certified medical laboratory scientist and has earned several leadership certificates from the National Society of Leadership and Success. Additionally, she holds two certificates in laboratory management from the American Society of Clinical Pathology, is a certified lean healthcare professional and received project management healthcare certification. Ms. Erwin has also achieved Lean Six Sigma healthcare yellow belt and green belt certifications and is currently pursuing a Lean Six Sigma healthcare black belt.
Active in her professional community, Ms. Erwin is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies. Beyond her professional engagements, she is civically engaged as secretary and treasurer at Eight Leaf.
Throughout her career, Ms. Erwin has demonstrated expertise as a generalist in the laboratory sciences, earning recognition for her comprehensive knowledge and skill set. She attributes her achievements to her passion for learning and her desire to help patients by providing essential diagnostic information to physicians. Looking toward the future, Ms. Erwin is eager to pursue publication of her master’s degree research. She is also applying to a doctoral program in clinical laboratory science with aspirations to become a medical director.
