In her present positions, Ms. Latorres utilizes biopsychosocial assessments and offers therapy through telehealth sessions, treating five to seven clients per day as part of a group practice. Her approach is rooted in helping clients understand their concerns and equipping them with tools to embrace challenges using acceptance strategies and new perspectives.

Prior to joining Calm Collective Therapy, Ms. Latorres was active as a mental health therapist at the New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center from 2020 to 2024. This opportunity stands out as one of her most significant professional accomplishments, marking her first position after completing graduate school. Despite the challenges of beginning her career during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she remained committed to her clients. She also received heartfelt gratitude from those whose lives were positively impacted by her therapy. Ms. Latorres’s stellar work at the aforementioned center solidified her dedication to supporting individuals with anxiety management, trauma-and-stressor-related disorders, interpersonal relationship difficulties and self-esteem issues.

Ms. Latorres began her clinical journey as a mental health counseling intern at Andrus from 2019 to 2020, where she gained foundational experience in therapeutic practice. Earlier in her career, she also served as a teacher assistant at Los Niños Services from 2017 to 2020, where she supported children’s development and learning. Additionally, Ms. Latorres worked as an outreach representative for Pace Connect at her alma mater, Pace University, between 2016 and 2017, engaging with students while simultaneously promoting university resources.

Shaping her professional path, Ms. Latorres earned a Bachelor of Arts in applied psychology and human relations at Pace University in 2018 before graduating with a Master of Science in mental health counseling from the same academic institution in 2020. Her commitment to ongoing education has been reflected in numerous professional designations and training. She notably holds licensure as a mental health counselor, has completed telepsychology training and advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy for habits and addictions, completed multiple modules in somatic experiencing, and, among other work, attended the New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center Academy for trauma-informed care approach to suicide prevention. Ms. Latorres is also working toward garnering her certification as a somatic experiencing practitioner through Somatic Experiencing International. Upon completion of this program, she will be equipped to guide individuals using body awareness techniques that facilitate healing from trauma.

Ms. Latorres has been affiliated with the New York Mental Health Counselors Association Inc. and the American Counseling Association. She has also maintained her membership with several honor societies, including the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. Beyond her professional involvement, Ms. Latorres has contributed to such organizations like the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle.

Throughout her career, Ms. Latorres has developed expertise in mental health counseling, individual, group and family therapy, crisis intervention and telehealth services. She is highly regarded for her ability to teach clients breathing and relaxation techniques, assertive communication skills, and strategies for managing anxiety and trauma.

Ms. Latorres’s educational excellence was recognized with the Pace University Top 100 Scholars Award in 2018. She has attributed her subsequent success to her deep empathy for others, which has enabled her to foster strong therapeutic relationships and an unwavering commitment to continual learning within her field. Enthusiastic about the future of her career in mental health, Ms. Latorres hopes to integrate various therapeutic modalities, including those learned through somatic experiencing, into her practice while broadening access for more clients. She also aspires to establish her own private or group practice while embracing new milestones in her personal life.
