Dr. Angelopoulos has established a distinguished career in the medical field, marked by his expertise in pharmacology, rheumatology, pain management and field medical affairs. With a career spanning three decades, he has made significant contributions to the health care industry, particularly in pain management and immunology.
Currently serving as a self-employed pharmacy rheumatology consultant since 2023, Dr. Angelopoulos guides patients in selecting optimal treatments for pain management, weight loss and immunology. Previously, he was the director of clinical pharmacy services at Island Rheumatology and Osteoporosis from 2023 to 2024. He also held the position of rheumatology consultant and supervising pharmacist at Kings Park Pharmacy in 2024.
Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Angelopoulos’s extensive experience included serving as a geriatric pharmacy and rheumatology consultant at RX III Pharmacy Consultants in Holbrook, New York, a regional medical director at Horizon Pharmacy in Chicago, and a national rheumatology science liaison at Crescendo Bioscience (now Myriad Genetics) in San Francisco. He was also a senior medical science liaison at AbbVie in Chicago and an area account manager at Wyeth Labs in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Angelopoulos began his career in 2007 as a regional manager for medical science liaisons at AbbVie.
Dr. Angelopoulos served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. His time in the military had a profound influence on his dedication and discipline. He also became highly educated, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Saint John’s University in 1990, a Master of Science in health care policy and administration from Stony Brook University in 1998, and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2004. Dr. Angelopoulos is a registered pharmacist in New York and New Jersey, which has been instrumental in his professional success.
Dr. Angelopoulos is actively involved with several professional organizations, including the American Pharmacists Association, the Association of Rheumatology Professionals, the New York State Rheumatology Society, and the New York State Council of Health-system Pharmacists, among others. His leadership roles include serving as the president of the Long Island Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists for Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
In addition to his industry-related affiliations, Dr. Angelopoulos is committed to education and community service. He serves as a preceptor for Doctor of Pharmacy students at the University of Arkansas and volunteers at Saint Palasque Vie Church and Saint Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in Greenlawn, New York.
Dr. Angelopoulos’s contributions to medical literature include presenting on chronic pain mechanisms and treatment options. He also authored a New York state law to revise Article 33 in 1998, which he presented to the New York State Senate. This accomplishment underscored Dr. Angelopoulos’s commitment to advancing medical practices and policies.
Remaining dedicated to patient care, Dr. Angelopoulos envisions continuing this focus while planning for retirement or semi-retirement by transferring his medical license to Greece, where he has familial ties. His unwavering commitment to patient care remains his primary focus as he continues his impactful career in the field of medicine.
