With nearly 50 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Greer has established herself as an esteemed expert in the field of nutrition. Before embarking upon her professional path, she pursued a formal education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in dietetics and experimental foods in 1976. She continued her studies with a Master of Public Health in Public Health Nutrition from the University of Minnesota in 2000. She ultimately concluded her academic efforts with a doctorate in public health general practice from Walden University in 2022. These notably achievements have been instrumental in shaping her career, providing her with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in various roles within the health and nutrition sectors.

Dr. Greer’s professional journey is marked by significant contributions to public health and nutrition education. Since 2022, she has served as an adjunct instructor at Mount Mary University, where she teaches community nutrition program management at the graduate level. Her role involves guiding students through experiential learning rotations and internships, fostering the next generation of nutrition professionals. Additionally, Dr. Greer has found success as the owner of Y-EAT Right, a nutritional consulting business she founded in 1997, which focuses on healthy living and community engagement through various initiatives and grants.

Dr. Greer’s extensive career includes working as a nutrition coordinator for the City of Milwaukee Health Department for 22 years, where she played a pivotal role in promoting public health nutrition. Prior to this, she was active as a cardiac surgery dietitian at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center for nearly a decade and as a cardiac dietitian at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dr. Greer refined her impressive skill set through her dietetic internship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Greer’s dedication to public health is further exemplified by her involvement with numerous organizations and initiatives. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Public Health Association, and several other professional groups. Her leadership roles include her appointment on the board of directors for Friedens Community Ministries and NourishMKE, as well as her participation on advisory committees such as the Nutrition and Dietetic Technician and Dietary Managers Advisory Committee at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Throughout her career, Dr. Greer has been recognized for her contributions to community health and nutrition education. She has received numerous accolades, including the Health Advocacy Award from the Greater Milwaukee Urban League and the President’s Circle Award for Community Engagement from the Medical College of Wisconsin. 

In addition to her primary endeavors, Dr. Greer is passionate about writing poetry and newsletter articles, as well as public speaking. Her creative works include poems such as “The Classroom” and publications like “What is Happiness?” She has also co-hosted a YouTube series titled “Days of Learning: Back to the Kitchen,” showcasing her commitment to sharing knowledge on healthy living. Her professional publication record is extensive, with approximately 45 peer-reviewed works and numerous presentations at conferences worldwide.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Greer aims to expand her private practice by offering individual counseling and making national presentations. Her mission is to disseminate information on nutrition and healthy living widely so that individuals can lead long and productive lives. With strong support from her family, Dr. Greer continues to make significant strides in her field while balancing her personal life with two children who inspire her ongoing dedication to public health advocacy.
