As a homeless-to-home program housing case manager with Project Understanding from 2015 to 2016, she played a pivotal role in transitioning individuals from homelessness to stable housing. Dr. Grekin’s initial experiences included internships and advocacy positions, such as a housing intern at Beyond Shelter and a forensic crisis advocate at Valley Trauma Center (now Strength United) from 2009 to 2010.
Dr. Grekin’s academic journey began with an Associate of Liberal Arts in psychology from Moorpark College in 2007, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Northridge, in 2009. She furthered her education with a Master of Social Work on campus in 2018. Dr. Grekin’s academic pursuits culminated with a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University in 2022.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Grekin holds certifications, including an associate clinical social worker registration from the Board of Behavioral Sciences, State of California, and has completed a leadership program through The National Society of Leadership and Success. Dr. Grekin’s involvement with the National Association of Social Workers underscores her commitment to advancing the field.

She attributes much of her success to these influences, alongside the guidance of a skilled therapist who helped navigate various challenges throughout her life. Looking ahead, Dr. Grekin aspires to establish her own private practice, focusing on trauma work, while continuing her roles at Cedars-Sinai and California State University, Northridge. She envisions expanding her impact through teaching and volunteering with organizations like the American Red Cross, ultimately aiming to create facilities for age-appropriate rehabilitation for teens and young adults through a nonprofit organization she hopes to establish in the future.
