Prior to his present position, Mr. Polk found success as a mental health therapist at Region 8 Mental Health from 2016 to 2018 and at Resilience Counseling and Recovery Center in Flowood, Mississippi, from 2020 to 2021.
Mr. Polk’s academic background at Mississippi State University laid the foundation for his career in counseling, having earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 2011 and a Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling in 2016. He likewise obtained his certifications as a professional counselor and telemental health provider in order to supplement his professional skill set and help others in need. His passion for psychology was ignited during his collegiate studies upon switching his major from engineering to psychology after being inspired by his general psychology professor, Michael Valentine, whose internship enabled him to witness the transformative power of counseling firsthand. Mr. Polk attributes his success to his exceptional ability to listen deeply and solve complex problems, skills he honed during his youth.
