Rande Brown, psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychotherapy.

With over four decades of experience, Ms. Brown has built a successful career in psychotherapy and nonprofit leadership. Since 2011, she has excelled as a psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, and licensed clinical social worker in West Village, NY, and opened her own private practice. In 2016. Her experience includes serving as president of East West Communications in New York since 1986, and associate director at the International Division of The Institute of Religion and Psychology in Tokyo, Japan, from 1973 to 1978. Additionally, she contributed through the field of literature, co-authoring the New York Times Bestseller “Geisha, A Life” with Mineko Iwasaki in 2002, which sold over 800,000 copies worldwide, and has authored 15 books in total.

Ms. Brown has been deeply involved in various organizations and boards throughout her career. Her roles include board member and faculty at the Contemplative Studies Project of New York since 2017 and a member of the International Federation of Psychoanalytic Societies. She has been an active member of the New York State Society of Clinical Social Work since 2012 and has held leadership positions at the Psychoanalytic Society of the William Alanson White Institute. She was also a founding board member of the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care and served as the executive director and founding board member of the Tricycle Foundation from 1991 to 2007. She has volunteered as a chaplain at Beth Israel Medical Center and continues her involvement with the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care.

Ms. Brown laid a strong educational foundation with a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian studies from Princeton University in 1971, followed by graduate coursework in Japanese language, culture, and society at Sophia University from 1971 to 1973. She later earned her Master of Social Work from New York University in 2011 and a certificate in psychoanalysis from the William Alanson White Institute in 2015, becoming a licensed clinical social worker that same year. In the coming years, she aims to expand her practice, help more individuals, and publish her upcoming book titled “Live, Die, Repeat: One Woman’s Wild Ride on the Cycle of Life and Death,” which is set to be released in 2025. She is committed to sharing her insights from her immersion in both Eastern and Western philosophies with as many people as possible.
