Brad Adams, PhD, founder and chief executive officer at Los Angeles Medicinal Psychedelics Society (LAMPS), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology and research.

With nearly three and a half decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Adams has established a successful career in psychology and research, specializing in psychedelic therapy and oncology research. He currently serves as the founder and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Medicinal Psychedelics Society (LAMPS), a role he has held since 2015. LAMPS is an organization dedicated to integrating psychedelic medicines into mainstream mental and spiritual health practices. Founded in 2015, LAMPS provides education, training programs, and safe spaces for open discussions about both the benefits and challenges of psychedelic medicine, aiming to promote responsible use in therapeutic settings. He has also been a co-investigator at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center since 2014 and a project manager at Translational Research in Oncology since 2010. Translational Research in Oncology is a global clinical research organization that specializes in oncology, conducting early-phase and phase-III cancer trials. His earlier roles include research monitor from 2007 to 2010, project manager in UCLA Health’s pulmonary department from 2002 to 2007, and project manager at Los Angeles County Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center from 1990 to 2002.

Dr. Adams is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, the American Psychological Society, an organization focused on supporting psychological research, application, teaching, and improving human welfare, representing psychology as a science both nationally and internationally, and volunteers with the Alzheimer’s Association, a leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from California State University, Long Beach, a Master of Arts in psychology from the same institution, and a PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Southern California.

Reflecting on his path, Dr. Adams originally aspired to be a plastic surgeon, inspired by the book “Psycho-Cybernetics.” However, after taking psychology classes during pre-med, he shifted his focus to psychology, a field where his father also worked. His curious mindset led him to psychedelic research, which played a key role in his personal healing and development. Known by friends as “the connector” for his love of building relationships, he attributes his success to life’s synchronicity and the strong network of colleagues and collaborators around him.

In the coming years, Dr. Adams will continue advancing his cancer research while also focusing on reforming the prison system and education through improved programming. He seeks to provide better end-of-life care and is working on a documentary to help homeless populations. Additionally, he plans to start a podcast and eventually open a private prison dedicated to rehabilitation, where inmates can learn meditation, yoga, and life skills. He looks forward to collaborating with psychedelic groups globally to set best practices. In advising aspiring professionals, he emphasizes the importance of taking risks, staying curious, and following one’s passion. Inspired by “The Surrender Experiment” by Michael A. Singer, he believes in trusting life’s journey and being open to opportunities.
