Brooke Seiz, owner and functional medicine practitioner at Evolve Wellness and Counseling, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in functional nutrition and trauma therapy.
Across nearly 15 years, Ms. Seiz has explored a successful career in functional medicine, a field that attempts to provide a holistic analysis and identify the root causes of health problems. As the owner of Evolve Wellness and Counseling since 2021, she focuses on nutrition, working with clients to craft individualized nutrition plans that are tailored to their conditions and needs. Ms. Seiz also offers classes and one-on-one therapy to help integrate counseling and nutritional psychology into the health care process. She specializes in addressing anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, irritable bowel syndrome and health issues related to stress or trauma.
Before founding her independent practice, Ms. Seiz served as a functional nutrition practitioner at Premier Integrative Health. She built her reputation in the holistic treatment space as an instructor at WellSpring School of Allied Health and a nutritional health coach at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc. Ms. Seiz’s health career began in 2011, when she took on the role of yoga teacher at multiple locations, including New Life Nutrition and Yoga, Sweet Beginnings, Samadhi Center for Yoga and Karma Yoga Center. Prior to embracing this professional path, she pursued work as a soprano singer in musical theater.
Ms. Seiz’s accomplishments are set against a strong educational backdrop. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater from The Santa Fe University of Art and Design in 2003. Following her change in career, Ms. Seiz earned a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2021. She has added to her qualifications with a number of certifications, including master nutrition therapy from Nutrition Therapy Associates, holistic nutrition from the National Association of Nutrition Professionals and functional medicine from Living Love Mindfulness Medicine. Most recently, Ms. Seiz was named a certified practitioner by the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2022. She considers this one of her greatest achievements.
Ms. Seiz credits the support of her family and friends to her continued success. She believes it would not have been possible to excel in her field, much less launch her own practice, while also raising three children without the assistance of many allies in her life. Ms. Seiz also emphasizes the importance of her multifaceted approach in setting her apart from other health care professionals. She blends medical and psychology training with her own experiences healing from trauma, while also utilizing her arts background to approach clients in an open, empathetic manner. Ms. Seiz maintains a sense of curiosity and is always willing to dig deeper to try to find the source of a client’s problems.
As part of her commitment to continued professional growth, Ms. Seiz maintains membership in several industry-related organizations. She serves on the National Board for Certified Counselors Inc. and also contributes to The Institute for Functional Medicine. Devoted to giving back to her community, Ms. Seiz volunteers at women’s shelters and offers mentorship through free wellness and nutrition classes.
Though she has changed professions, Ms. Seiz still enjoys jazz singing in her free time, alongside spending time with her husband and three children. Looking to the future, she hopes to focus more on expanding her reach by teaching others. Ms. Seiz intends to study the connection between gut and mental health and to develop a training program about this topic for mental health professionals. Her overall goal is to move Evolve Wellness and Counseling into a larger space, facilitating the addition of more therapeutic services and the hiring of a larger staff to enhance what she can offer.
