Alice O’Leary Randall, adjunct professor at Pacific College of Health and Science, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care education and medical marijuana advocacy.

With nearly five decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Randall has excelled in the field of health care education, specializing in medical marijuana. She is currently an adjunct professor at the Pacific College of Health and Science, a role she has held since 2022. Prior to this, she served as a medical cannabis ambassador at Mary’s Medicinals from 2015 to 2018, owner of The Memory from 1998 to 2014, and grief specialist at Tidewell Hospice from 2006 to 201. She also held positions as an oncology nurse at Florida Cancer Specialists from 2005 to 2006, a technician for the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System from 2003 to 2004, and an administrative officer at the Society for Scholarly Publishing. Laying a foundation for her career, she pursued an education at the University of South Florida, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in fine arts and theater. She went on to gain certification as a licensed nurse practitioner from the Sarasota County Technical Institute in 2003 and is a certified thanatologist.

Ms. Randall has lent her expertise to several publications, including working as editor-in-chief at Mary’s Medicinals from 2015 to 2022. She co-authored “Pain-Free with CBD: Everything You Need to Know to Safely and Effectively Use Cannabidiol” and “Marijuana Rx: The Patients’ Fight for Medicinal Pot,” and authored “Medical Marijuana in America: Memoir of a Pioneer” and “Myakka River State Park: A Small Tribute.” She is also the creator of the Medical Marijuana Pioneer Channel on YouTube and a blog post writer for the Medical Marijuana Memory Blog. Additionally, she created the Medical Marijuana Movement, Project 50, and sat on the board of directors of Mary’s Foundation of Caring from 2015 to 2019. She also co-founded the Medical Marijuana Issue/Alliance for Cannabis Therapeutics, where she served from 1976 to 2012, and volunteered as a nurse for Mission to the World from 2005 to 2007. Her memberships include the American Cannabis Nurses Association and the Society of Cannabis Clinicians. In light of her impressive undertakings, she was an honoree of the Annual Health and Life Sciences 50 for the Irish America Magazine in 2018 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Cannabis Nurses Association.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Randall’s journey to her current position began with her involvement in the medical cannabis movement almost 50 years ago. Her late husband, Robert Randall, became the first person in the country to legally receive cannabis supplies for glaucoma treatment in 1976, sparking widespread public interest. This event propelled her into activism alongside her husband, a journey she continued until his passing in 2001. Co-founding the medical cannabis movement remains one of her most significant achievements. She attributes her success to both fortunate opportunities and the unwavering support she and her husband received from numerous individuals. Looking ahead, her goal is to organize their archive, a task she has begun by arranging to place it with the Wisconsin Historical Society, which she says will ensure the preservation of their history for future generations.
