Ms. Cruz began her educational journey with an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from the Borough of Manhattan Community College in 2000, followed by an Associate of Science in nursing from the Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing and Mt. Vernon Hospital in 2004. Her dedication to learning continued, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the State University of New York at Delhi in 2012 and a Master of Science in nursing from Herzing University Online in 2018. Equipped with multiple degrees and a wealth of expertise, she holds various certifications, including as a registered nurse, a nationally certified phlebotomist technologist, and a certified nurse practitioner in family health.
Ms. Cruz’s professional path commenced as a certified phlebotomist technologist and medical assistant at Labcorp and Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. in 1992. Her experience expanded across various medical settings, including roles as a medical surgical nurse at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, an emergency room nurse at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, and later as a telemetry and charge registered nurse for the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Ms. Cruz diversified her expertise, serving as a critical care transport registered nurse for several healthcare institutions, including Keller Army Community Hospital and the Lifestar Response Corp. Additionally, she contributed significantly as an urgent care triage registered nurse for Cornerstone Family Healthcare and a family nurse practitioner specializing in pediatrics for the same institution.
Since 2021, Ms. Cruz has been a vital force as the medical director for prosperIV®, overseeing a team of nurses and providing specialized treatments. Her unwavering dedication extends beyond professional boundaries. She remains an advocate for education and perseverance. Her personal journey has instilled in her a profound belief that one’s background should never constrain one’s potential.
