Moira C. Dowling, Manager of Neurology Clinical Trial Organization at the University of Michigan Medical School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in biostatistics.
Ms. Dowling began her career as a solid tumor clinical trials lead at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center between 2004 and 2006. She later excelled as a manager of operational support for the University of Michigan between 2006 and 2011. In 2011, she advanced to associate managing director of epic clinical research interfaces at the University of Michigan Medical School until 2013, where she subsequently worked as the associate director of the honest broker office at the medical school’s office of research until 2015. Between 2015 and 2019, Ms. Dowling served as the senior project manager for the Michigan Institute for Data Sciences before advancing to manager at the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research Center between 2019 and 2022. She currently acts as manager at the Neurology Clinical Trial Organization (NeCTO) at the University of Michigan Medical School.
Crediting her educational achievements to her influential parents, Ms. Dowling followed her interest in biology to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in biological science in 1983. Wanting to move out of the pharmaceutical industry and knowing she needed to further her education to participate in clinical research and trials, she pursued a Master of Public Health in biostatistics at the University of California at Los Angeles, where she graduated in 1992. In addition to her undergraduate and graduate endeavors, she is a certified spiritual director for women and a certified veterinary technician.
Ms. Dowling is involved with many organizations where she participates as a member, including the Project Management Institute, the American School Association, Women in Data Science, the American Statistical Association, and the United States Concealed Carry Association. She also dedicates time to helping at her church as an usher. Her desire to inspire fellow churchgoers, she assisted with developing a core educational curriculum for a women’s Catholic religious group.
In the upcoming years, Ms. Dowling plans to move into a consulting role for biostatistical research. She enjoys working and is very people-oriented, which will bring her much success when working as a consultant. When she isn’t working, she spends time spinning wool, making soap, and cooking Middle Eastern food.
