Driven by a desire to support the needs of others, Ms. Holmes specializes in complex case management in her role at BlueCross BlueShield, where she is responsible for member outreach, as well as lending her aid in the development of programs that analyze social determinants of health. Hailing from over three decades of experience in the field, she previously served as a systems director of care coordination for what is now Prisma Health, where she began as a manager of medical social work in 2005. Previously, Ms. Holmes had found success as a medical social worker at Providence Health & Services between 1990 and 1996. As a testament to her commitment to the field, she has also served as a past president of the South Carolina chapter of the American Case Management Association.
Taking after the example of her family, who have distinguished themselves as social workers, educators, and nurses, Ms. Holmes studied in social work at Hunter College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science. Following this accomplishment, she went on to attain a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina. In accounting for her subsequent success, Ms. Holmes credits her level of commitment, her desire to continue learning, and her consistent ability to provide excellent service on behalf of those in need. In a career suffused with highlights, she is most proud of her work on behalf of former Governor Nikki Haley, under whom she led a complex care management project intended to help retain patients in South Carolina.
Now retired, Ms. Holmes continues to work part-time, but hopes to continue serving a diverse population of patients in need of hospital and insurance benefits. Likewise, she aspires to carry on her affiliation with the American Case Management Association as they look toward optimizing health care outcomes through the effective practice of their discipline.
