Jonathan Cox, Chaplain in the United States Army Reserves, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare chaplaincy.

With nearly 10 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Cox has excelled as chaplain in the United States Army Reserves since 2023. He was accepted to the United States Army in 2001 and received his first assignment in 2023. As a chaplain, he began his career interning for the University of Kentucky HealthCare in 2014. He worked as a chaplain resident at St. Mary’s Medical Center from 2015 to 2016 and then as chaplain at Southern Ohio Medical Center from 2016 to 2017. At HCR ManorCare, he served as spiritual care coordinator from 2017 to 2022 before transitioning to Hospice of Hope in 2022.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Cox pursued an education at Ohio Christian University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2010. He continued his academic efforts at the Asbury Theological Seminary, obtaining a Master of Divinity in 2014. He is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in hospice chaplaincy at same and anticipates graduating by 2024. He was ordained as a minister in 2011.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Cox remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains, a senior pastor of Christ Open Bible Church, and an endorsed chaplain of the Church of the Nazarene. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was selected as Mr. Ohio Christian University in 2008 by his peers, based on being an outstanding student.

Mr. Cox attributes his success to his supportive wife. He also gives credit to his clinical pastoral education supervisor, Vivian Schmidt-Fountain, whom he considers a mentor. His parents also pushed him to pursue his education. His most notable achievement is completing his clinical pastoral education residency at St. Mary’s in Huntington. It was his dream to be in the military, as his grandfather was a World War II veteran and his cousin served in Iraq. In the immediate future, he would like to finish his dissertation and carry on with his chaplaincy work. He is open to pursuing other forms of chaplaincy if an opportunity presents itself.
