As an independent consultant, she also contributed her expertise to Cardinal Health, Dohmen Life Science Services, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Salix Pharmaceuticals and Schwarz Biosciences, among many others. She initially began her career as a clinical research coordinator at Emory University, where she had received a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology in 1990. Following this accomplishment, Ms. Cook Martin went on to Georgia State University, from which she attained a Master of Arts in sociology in 1993.
Ms. Cook Martin cultivated a passion for clinical research early in her career – after working closely with several investigators and sponsors, she found that her interest in medical writing dovetailed smoothly with her background in sociology, which involved a great deal of reading and writing papers, as well as studying statistics. In accounting for her subsequent success, she largely credits the influence of her mentors and colleagues, from whom she has learned a great deal. Looking ahead, Ms. Cook Martin aspires to continue consulting and contracting for the foreseeable future.
