Years later, she eagerly became certified as a nursing assistant and a master project manager before earning a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
Alongside her current role with Intermountain Health, Ms. Bond is the lean change agent at St. Vincent Healthcare. She has been entrusted with handling challenges in multiple capacities for both entities for the past 25 years, including as a clinic manager, senior quality improvement specialist, lean facilitator, and application analyst for the emergency department, among other titles. Ms. Bond owes her success to her parents after witnessing their work ethic and dedication to her family during times of poverty even though she never felt like she was poor. She also attributes her ability to accomplish anything that she sets out to do to her professional mentors, who pushed her harder than she used to push herself.
In years to come, regardless of her job title, Ms. Bond sees herself continuing to help caregivers to thrive and patients connect to the care that they need in a timely manner. She and her team work well together and are onboarding more people who are called to the profession. She feels inspired to carry on because there are many internal applicants at Intermountain Heath who have applied for administrative positions—a testament to her team’s reputation for excellence. Ms. Bond uses a very familiar adage to advise anyone who seeks to become a healthcare professional: “be the change they want to see.”
